HiFiMan HE400se Headphones Review

I have quite a few headphones... Audeze LCD-XC, Focal Utopia, Sure se846. I am in love with the Arya. Where Focal Utopia is super resolving and much brighter than Arya - I was blown away by the Arya's texture and sound stage right away. I listen to tons of music much of it classical and one amazing thing these headphones in combination with my dac and amp (Pro-Ject DAC and now a Valhalla 2) good quality recordings are taken to another level and of course very well made recordings are amazing to hear. I still love my XCs for convenience, and the super resolving Focals but after 2 weeks of non stop listening, the Aryas are my favorite for sure.

A year or so later - still my favorite, I have been listening to a lot of folk music recorded in the 70s and didn't think much of it would benefit from using my extreme headphone setup for - was wrong, the Arya takes the sound to a whole new level even if it was often recorded live under some primitive (alcohol influenced) conditions.

Slightly laid back sound signature that can be little bright sometimes with warmish properties ( more prominent bass but less harsh treble than firmly bright headphone like the hd800). Good detail, resolution, and a wide sound stage. Bass extension is very good and have enough impact for me but maybe not so much for bass heads, mids are soothing, and treble is good but can sound just a lil harsh/too bright in poorer recordings imho.. Ive listened to a lot of math/experimental rock, jazz, edm, rnb, and hip hop songs and it performs really well with them overall.
